Featured Artist: Heather Brothers

Not only do we love to talk about music here at Neu-Alt but we really have a love and appreciation for Art and those who are awesome at making Art. Check out Heather Brothers and her artwrok.

Wasn't able to post Heather's full Bio. Read the full Bio below...

" Heather Brothers is a local Nashvillian bursting at the seams with creativity and quirks. If you see her out and about you might notice she can be a little shy or quiet, but that's only because she's storing away every visual and experience for later abuse in her art.

Even though she earned a few art degrees recently, an associates in graphic design and bachelor of commercial illustration to be exact, Heather didn't always have the “When I grow up I wanna be an artist” mentality. A 7-year old Heather would obsessively scribble on every paper surface but sternly tell people she didn't want to be a “starving artist” when questioned. This mentality kept a stronghold til her mid-20's when persistence, encouragement and massive support from a very close friend convinced her to pursue those degrees.

After the college graduation, a few odd jobs and a wedding, Heather is finally on the way to her goal of freelancing in commercial art, with crafty hobbies and low-brow art on the side. Heather creates polymer clay and found object jewelry, dubbed Heartworks, that reveal either the manipulated pulp of a broken heart or a graceful and shining example of beauty. She's also begun creating silk flower and fabric hair fascinators that double as fashion pins. All crafty items are locally offered exclusively in the Boa Clothing shop at 4903 Charlotte Pike. Heather does have an online shop at Etsy, but due to an increase in local business and freelancing, there just isn't enough time in the day to list all the items. Always keep checking though! A weekend might lend the time to proper photos and postings.

Heather also welcomes custom requests on Facebook, if you can find her, or in various local shows. Her next art display will be in the March edition of Untitled Art Group Friday the 25th, location and time TBA on her Facebook page. The next local event to stop by, chat with her, and take home a few necklaces, art and flowers will be the Flatrock Festival on Saturday, May 28th, 2011 at Colemen Park (the corner of Thompson Lane and Nolensville Pike) between 10am-4pm.

Until then, she'll be freelancing scribbling, painting, and manipulating every idea her little brain has into life."
